Frequently Asked Questions
Where do our engines come
from ?
Our engines come
from Japan, as second hand units. Please remember
that in the majority of cases the Japanese scrap
their cars with far less kilometres than your average
Australian car.
Regardless of what you may have heard about the so
called “40,000 kilometre engines” there is no limit
at which the Japanese must scrap their cars. Good
quality used engines are available from Japan for the
following reasons
- The Japanese climate is extremely harsh on motor
vehicle bodies, causing most cars to rust out sooner
than they do in Australia.
- The Japanese population and the size of their
country means that the average kilometres travelled
per year by the Japanese is much lower than in
Australia.
-The Japanese car inspection is an extremely rigorous
and thorough inspection of nearly 50 systems and
components on the vehicle. Once a vehicle starts to
develop any sign of rust or any other major defect it
will fail the inspection and should be scrapped.
Put these things together and you can see that Japan
has a veritable smorgasbord of quality used engines
and components to choose from. You must remember that
mileage is only one factor that contributes to the
condition of an engine. Driving habits and
maintenance are just as important. That’s why we go
to great lengths testing our engines when they
arrive, to ensure that only the best quality product
goes out to our customers
What comes
with the engine ?
We sell our engines complete with any accessories
that they arrive with from Japan. These items may be
different to the ones on "Australian" vehicles and
are not covered by warranty, but are left on the
engines for testing purposes.
Warranty
?
Most engines are sold
with warranty (with the exception of rotaries).
Usually, warranty is :
-Standard SOHC engines, 6 months, unlimited
kilometres.
-Most DOHC engines, 3 months, unlimited
kilometres.
-Most Turbo and supercharged engines, 3 months,
unlimited kilometres.
Our usual warranty covers parts only unless a
"labour" warranty is purchased. Warranty is voided if
the engine is overheated, run without oil or
mistreated. Any defective unit must be returned to
us, as it was run in the vehicle, before a claim can
be considered. Full details are available on request.
Less than 2% of engines we sell come back for genuine
warranty claims.
Freight
?
We can arrange to ship
your engine anywhere in the world and, because of the
quantities we ship, we get an excellent deal! We will
be happy to get you a price on freight when you
contact us.
Payment
?
Payment can be made to
us by Visa, MasterCard, Electronic Transfer, Money
order, Cheque (conditions apply) and we even take
cash, however, we cannot ship C.O.D. Once we confirm
your payment, goods can often be shipped the same
day.
